When the earth started burning
And you cowered in your homes
How did your leaders first respond?
They acted to protect the economy
They promised to keep supply chains open
They pledged to conserve consumerism
That's what they did

Profits before people
Economics before the planet
Wealth before health
Sometimes I wonder why I bother
Perhaps I should just let you crash and burn

After all - I will endure
I don't need people for my survival
